DnB Step Takes Over Liquicity Festival: Bringing the Drum & Bass Community Together Through Dance

One of the highlights of this year's Liquicity Festival was the opportunity to host a DnB Step workshop on the iconic Nebula Stage. Led by our instructors Levi and Johnny, with incredible Drum & Bass soundtracks provided by Polymathic, the workshop became much more than a dance lesson. It became a celebration of the culture, passion, and community that make Drum & Bass so special.

Sharing the dance floor with fellow ravers in an environment built around music, creativity, and connection reminded us exactly why we started teaching DnB Step in the first place.

What is DnB Step?

For those who are new to the scene, DnB Step is a dance style that has evolved alongside the Drum & Bass movement. Characterized by fast footwork, smooth transitions, and personal expression, it allows dancers to interpret the rhythm and energy of Drum & Bass in their own unique way.

Unlike many choreographed dance styles, DnB Step encourages individuality. Every dancer develops their own flow, creating a style that reflects both the music and their personality.

But DnB Step is about more than movement.

It represents the values that have always been at the heart of rave culture: freedom, creativity, respect, and connection. Whether you're stepping into your very first workshop or have been dancing for years, everyone shares the same dance floor.

A Special Moment at Liquicity Festival

Liquicity has become one of Europe's most beloved Drum & Bass festivals, bringing together thousands of music lovers from around the world. It's a place where friendships are made, unforgettable memories are created, and the global Drum & Bass community comes together.

Being invited to teach a DnB Step workshop on the Nebula Stage was an incredible honour.

From the moment the music started, people of all experience levels joined us on the dance floor. Some already knew the basics of DnB Step, while others were trying it for the very first time. Within minutes, the workshop transformed into something much bigger than simply learning new moves.

The atmosphere was filled with smiles, encouragement, laughter, and pure excitement. Everyone was learning together, inspiring each other, and celebrating the music that brought us all there.

That is exactly what DnB Step is all about.

More Than a Dance Style

DnB Step is part of the wider Drum & Bass culture. It's a way to connect with people without saying a single word. It creates confidence, builds friendships, and gives dancers the freedom to express themselves through music.

Watching complete beginners dance alongside experienced steppers at Liquicity perfectly demonstrated what makes this community so welcoming. Nobody was competing. Everyone was supporting each other, celebrating progress, and sharing the energy that only a Drum & Bass dance floor can create.

The greatest takeaway from the workshop wasn't just seeing people learn new footwork.

It was witnessing the incredible atmosphere created by everyone who joined us.

The enthusiasm, positive energy, and willingness to learn reminded us that the Drum & Bass community is built on much more than music alone. It's built on people.

People who encourage one another.

People who celebrate creativity.

People who aren't afraid to express themselves.

Those are the moments that inspire us to keep teaching, creating, and growing the DnB Step movement.
