DnB Step Beginner Course with Levi

New style. New moves. One seriously energetic crew.

Our very first DnB Step Beginner Course with Levi has officially come to an end.

And what a ride it has been!

DnB Step is a little different from what many Ravers are used to. The movement, rhythm and footwork can feel challenging at first, with a bit of a learning curve when you’re just getting started.

So when Levi started this first-ever beginner course, there was a little question in the back of his mind:

How will our Ravers respond to it?

And it turned out like this...

Everyone picked up the movements incredibly quickly, brought loads of enthusiasm to class and created a really fun atmosphere from the very first weeks.

And while the students were learning something completely new, Levi was learning too.

Building the foundations

For this first DnB Step course, creating a strong foundation was the main focus.

The first classes were all about getting comfortable with the basic 2-step, understanding the rhythm, finding your balance and gradually building up the tempo.

At the beginning, there was lots of dancing together as a group. Repeating movements, feeling the rhythm and giving everyone the time to get comfortable with the basics.

Because once the foundation is there, you can start building.

From the basics to freestyle

Once everyone had a feel for the basic steps, it was time to introduce the building blocks that make DnB Step so much more versatile.

The crew started working with kicks, resets and backsteps — movements that can be combined in different ways to create your own combinations and freestyle.

This is where things started to come together.

Instead of simply learning individual steps, the Ravers began understanding how those movements could connect, change direction and become part of their own dancing.

And that’s one of the things that makes learning a new dance style so much fun: suddenly, the movements that felt unfamiliar at the start begin to feel like yours.

One course. One crew. One 64-beat choreo.

By the end of the course, the group had taken everything they had learned and brought it together in a 64-beat DnB Step choreography.

From the basic 2-step and rhythm exercises to kicks, resets and backsteps. Everything came together in one final combination.

A pretty big journey for a first beginner course!

Learning goes both ways

For Levi, the course was just as much a learning experience as it was for the students.

Teaching a completely new style to beginners gave him the opportunity to experiment with different ways of explaining and breaking down movements, and to refine those teaching techniques along the way.

The enthusiasm of the students made that process even more rewarding.

Everyone came into class ready to try, learn and improve. Creating the kind of atmosphere where you can challenge yourself while still having a lot of fun.

And that’s exactly what we love about dancing at Amsterdam Ravers Academy.

What’s next for DnB Step?

This first DnB Step Beginner Course has shown us just how much can happen when you give a new style, a new crew and a lot of beats a chance.

From learning the very first 2-step to putting together a full 64-beat choreography, these Ravers have already built a strong foundation to keep developing their DnB Step.

And who knows what comes next?

More steps. More freestyle. More speed. More flow.

A big shoutout to everyone who joined Levi for our very first DnB Step Beginner Course!

Thank you for bringing the energy, trying new things and making the course such a fun experience.

Keep moving. Keep learning. Keep raving.
